A contemporary country escape in one of England's most unspoiled corners, The Harper is luxuriously laid-back and appealingly unstuffy – a place where anything goes and nothing’s too much trouble.

    Dinner at our place?

If you’ve often thought of eating at The Harper but it feels a little too local to stay over, read on! Due to popular demand, non-residents will now be able to join us for dinner in Stanley’s. Take your seats for seasonal tasting menu (after an aperitif or two at The Bar, perhaps) and savour several courses of cosmopolitan cooking with a distinctly Norfolk accent. Of course, if the drive home afterwards takes the shine off the idea, you’d be more than welcome to make a night of it… > Book a table

    Called to the (new) bar

The village local holds a special place in our hearts. A place of connection and community. A place where life is played out. The Morston Anchor and The Langham Blue Bell, both a whisker away from The Harper, are just such places - much-loved locals with looks to charm. When hard times befell them last year, we couldn’t help but step in. So, it’s time to meet our new little sisters, revived and ready to welcome you…

    Ways to stay

    > Decisions, decisions... Breakfast is included at The Harper (as hearty as you please). So too is our little daily ritual – Six o’clock Savouries (al fresco when it’s warm). In fact, food – sitting down to it, savouring it, lingering over it – is such a big part of what we do here, it would be remiss of us not to offer Dinner, Bed and Breakfast – a table d'hôte affair with three courses included. If little ones make leisurely breakfasts (or dinner!) wishful thinking however, you can now stay room-only in our family cottages – though we’ll happily deliver breakfast to your door.

    Some like it hot

    > Book a stay When it comes to hotels, who doesn’t? So, we were delighted when The Harper earned a spot on Condé Nast Traveller’s 2022 Hot List. The definitive round-up of the world’s best new hotels, the annual Hot List is a go-to guide for style-conscious hotel seekers. We’re one of only a handful of UK hotels to make the list. It would be lovely to find we’ve made your list, too.

    Present perfect: shop The Harper

    > Take a look Seekers of original gifts; givers of grand gestures; last-minute panic buyers – tidings of good cheer are here. The Harper is now available in gift voucher form. Browse an enticing selection of experiences - or for indecisive types, hotel credit is available in an array of values (do I love them this much? Or this much?...). We’d always recommend you try before you buy, of course…

    Rooms

The Harper’s 32 bedrooms beckon for weekend breaks, midweek escapes or longer decamps from the daily grind (with or without the laptop). Whatever you want from your time away from home, feel entirely at home in a spacious haven of peace, privacy and calm - and wake to a generous breakfast on the house. Find the room that’s right for you, dip into some Norfolk nibbles, reach for a cocktail, and relax.

For families, there are also two delightful cottages - entirely self-contained, yet a hop and a skip away from the front door. Book just the room(s), or (even better) have breakfast delivered.

    Food and drink

Where land meets sea and the seasons still hold sway, menus dance to nature’s beat. Whether an evening of discovery in Stanley’s, or all-day dishes served anywhere you please, expect the best of what’s in season, free of frippery and full of flavour.

We believe eating together should be an unhurried pleasure. And with some of Norfolk’s brightest culinary talent in our kitchen, we’ve created beautiful spaces to enjoy their craft – with a well-chosen wine list, naturally.

    Spa

In North Norfolk, where the elements shape the everyday, wellbeing tends to come naturally. Spend an hour or two wandering our big, boundless beaches and you can’t help but feel better.

For those with more disciplined routines, you’ll find all bases covered. Run the mile or so to the sea, along the coast path and back (we’ll provide the route). Walk to your heart’s content. Enjoy an invigorating hot tub. Succumb to the allure of the pool, clad in the smoothest stone and bathed in natural light - perfect for a daily dip. And with a cosy spa too, offering pre-bookable treatments, this is a place that enhances your wellbeing inside as well as out.
